This is exactly what I did this weekend. I cooked up 2 doz of my oldest eggs and microwaved them. The chickens loved them, plus it gave them an added boost of protein. I never give raw eggs to any of my pets. Too much to loose if they get sick. My rule of thumb is that if I wouldn't eat it...
We are getting an egg that is huge about once a day or so. Its so large that it doesn't fit in the egg cartons. So far they haven't been double yolks either.
We have red sex links, white leghorn, RIR, barred rocks, milles, and EE ( I am confident that its not the EEs or milles) in our...
We, too, were integrating and had to move the pullets sooner than we wanted because of the weather. They stay by themselves. I still have to bring a few of them in at night because they won't come in with the others. They have been locked in with the others for a few days (-16 degrees this...
I am integrating new chickens to our flock after quarantining for 30+ days. They are separated by chain link dog kennel panel. How long would you keep them separate?
We adopted a smaller flock about 2 months ago. I have quarantined from my existing flock since we brought them home. they didn't look the greatest so I dusted for mites, etc. before I put them in my old coop. As suggested on other boards, I will be integrating soon and have built a small...
I love your comment - Wy Spring. We can have spring and winter anytime of the year. We had our first front in early September. I am thinking Mayish. I thought I wrote the dates down but my daughter picked them up for me.
We hunt and process our own venison. Its just learning how to...
I am trying to rehome my roosters on Facebook before I cull or process. I have been creative with wording using 'egg butt sires' 'barnyard keepers', etc, I have even asked on the Chicken Keeping 101 FB page. Ugg.
Looking for suggestions.
Sorry for not replying sooner. Its been a hectic week in Wyoming. We have 4 roosters to cull. I am not sure of their exact ages but we purchased the chicks this spring. There are 2 RIR and 2 Welsummer we think. I have posted pics.
I am not sure if it is worth it to process or not.
Unfortunately, the majority of our pullets this spring turn out to be cockerels. Ugg. I never culled or processed before. Tips and tricks would be appreciated especially the visceral part.
