most humane way to put down a chicken at home :(

Quote: the flapping is going to REALLY REALLY REALLY freak me out. the last thing i want to do is torture it, or think I'm torturing it. I haven't decided what I'm going to do for her yet.

most humane way to put down a chicken at home :(

my semi-paralyzed chicken has gone downhill fast. yesterday she could stand and take a few steps, now she flops over to her side every time. I don't think there is any way for her to recover. what is the best way to put her down? I am NOT going to wring her neck, chop her head off, etc.

Help! Did my chicken have a stroke??

yay!! she is doing better!! when I came in she was sitting, but in the middle and not on her side, eating pellets. when I approached she stood up and took a few unsteady steps before falling down. I set her on her feet and she stood! I left her standing by her food again.

Help! Did my chicken have a stroke??

I have 2 roos: a bantam cochin and a standard GLW. they never fight, as the cochin is very shy. again, I do not think the GLW attacked, he only picks on the smaller cochin hen and quail d'anvers hen. I am going to go check on her right now...

Help! Did my chicken have a stroke??

If she WAS attacked I don't know why, she is not regularly picked on, no missing feathers, etc. I am going to go check on her in about half an hour. and her comb is not THAT bloody, just one individual little spike.

Help! Did my chicken have a stroke??

This morning I fed the chickens and one of my adult BO hens was on the ground, on her right side, comb bloodied from being pecked ( I assume). I sat her up but she repeatedly flopped back over to that right side. a couple of times she managed to balance, croched down. She does not appear to have...

Yesterday at my school there was a wild momma turkey and she had a chick with her, somehow they got seperated, the chick was caught by a teacher and I took it home because there was no one to take care of it. I don't know how old it is, but it has a few feathers on its back and most on its...

I just got a pair of black Cochin bantams () that are pretty good quality and their leg feathers are very nice. I keep my chickens in a large run and their feathers are going to...

    Breeders/chicks in Northern California?

I know Ideal hatchery is in Fresno, but their birds aren't anything special. I am really just looking for Orpingtons, silkies, and RIRs. those are my absoloute favorites. but I need live birds, I don't have an incubator for hatching eggs.
