thank you all for your help. Little guy is a roo for sure, and will have to meet his maker tonight and the soup pot soon. As for the perches I saw the babies roosting the other night on what I have in there, but I will use your suggestions for wider boards.

@ the crumbler I have a 1"x1" wood post for a roost so far, I may replace it with a 2x4 or a branch if that is what everyone else uses. we have a huge tree branch in the run and they sit and sleep on that during the day. This chicken has black on its feet, someone on another site is telling me...

We just got out chickens this spring- we have 4 ameraucanas, a barred rock, black australorp, german spitzhauben, and a rhode island red. Really enjoying this forum, everyone is so helpful! Our coop is raised, and 4x8. Our run is 8x10. Almost done with the nesting boxes... so much more effort...
