We used the witchita coop plans and adjusted it to our wants. We dug out the ground below and laid cinder-blocks all around the base of the coup filled with concrete and did multiple layers of gravel, sand, dirt. There is also now electricity running to the coop, this runs the lights for winter...
Thanks! We are excited, it will be our first time having some backyard city chickens. We picked them up as chicks and they are getting big and are very happy to be out in the the run!
I read it was the actual tomato plant (leaves) that where poisonous, though my little chicks got out and obliterated my tomato plants and they are fine. I think that play house will make an adorable coop!
This was inspired by the Wichita Coop, then we ended up making it our own. The bones of the coop are done, now for the fun part all the little personal touches!

Not sure if they are still to young or if the pics are good enough. This is the first time raising our backyard chickens, we can't have roosters I am hoping they are all girls! They where sold as Arcauna but I think they are Easter Eggers, the two white ones where sold as silike bantams and...
I will have to post pics of our when we get home. How old until you can start telling if they are a pullet or a roo? I think our favorite girl might be a he.......
Mine do this now too! The coop and run should be complete this weekend. They are ready to have more space. They have taken over my sun room as their own domain and I find them in random locations throughout the house peeping for someone to find or join them!
I have had it happen with store bought eggs, but its because I didn't poke the yolk. Hopefully she will get over her fear as I am sure your eggs taste 1000x better!
We are getting ready to start ours, we are using the Witchita Cabin Coop design modified to fit our space and needs. I am excited and we got to get a move on our girls are getting big fast! It has been inspirational seeing all the pictures of other coops.
