Any breed guesses for these day-old chicks?

I’m just following up, a year later. The little black chick turned out to be a f1 Olive Egger roo and went to live at a very nice farm. Chipmunk chick with feathered legs is an Olive Egger hen now. She lays lovely speckled khaki eggs. The red chick is a novogen and is my friendliest chicken and...

Any breed guesses for these day-old chicks?

He works at hatcheries all over the state, so I'm not sure where he was that day...it's possible that it was Pete's. If so, then we maybe have two OE, since that's the only pea comb breed they hatch and both the chipmunk chick and the black one have pea combs. It'd also explain why the chipmunk...

    Possible roo?

Apparently! :p Or you may not be hearing the crows...their first ones are pretty rusty. Our eight-week-old cockerel was doing practice crows at random times that we could barely hear outside the coop.

Any breed guesses for these day-old chicks?

I got these chicks from a hatchery worker. He didn't check breeds when he chose them from the bins; they were overruns from the day's orders. They could be any breed except a barnyard mix...rarity or cost weren't in play when they were chosen, just what hatched that day. :)

    Could this be Marek's?

Chiming in because my 8-week-old Buff Orp has exactly the same symptoms. I noticed the tippy-toe rocking/balance problems a few days ago. It got progressively worse over the first 24 hours until she basically couldn't stand and was lethargic, so I separated her so she could rest and not get...

Any breed guesses for these day-old chicks?

That’s what I’m thinking, too, now that the chicks are four weeks old. Red chick with straight comb first feathered cream and now is growing in red...red sexlink seems likely. I am thrilled to have a good layer in the mix. Chipmunk chick with feathered legs has given me fits...she had wry...

What's wrong with my two-week-old chicks? Not thriving.

Well, this morning all three chicks are eating voraciously, showing more interest in their environment, and moving around with some pep in their step. I'm pretty sure they were just too hot and couldn't cool off! After a night with the lamp totally off, the brooder is still 75F inside. I'm just...

I'll report back in the a.m. Fingers crossed for my little peepers to be running around like crazy!

What's wrong with my two-week-old chicks? Not thriving.

Ok, I'm trying not to be too hopeful, but I'll be darned if they aren't a little perkier after the lamp has been off for a while. All three were eating voluntarily when I just checked on them, which bodes well. I never would have guessed that the temp would make that big of a difference, or that...

What's wrong with my two-week-old chicks? Not thriving.

Brooder is 85F in the warm end and 75F in the "cool" end. Maybe a little too warm? The chicks spend most of their time in the warm end, though. Thanks for the info...I'll be adjusting their heat situation for sure to see if that makes a difference. Our house is still getting cold at night I...

What's wrong with my two-week-old chicks? Not thriving.

I have three chicks that are about 2.5 weeks old. They seemed healthy and happy until the last five days or so, when I noticed them eating and drinking less and growing weaker. They are still gaining weight, just very slowly, but they're definitely not the vibrant, active chicks they were at...

Any breed guesses for these day-old chicks?

The guy who gave us the chicks said he thinks the ginger chick is a RIR. That was on my short list! She's a cutie with her little red stripes.

When handed a box of mystery chicks, one can never be too sure!

Any breed guesses for these day-old chicks?

Thanks for playing along! :) I wasn’t sure if Easter Eggers have feathered legs, but I guess if it was a Cochin or Maran cross? There are so many chipmunk chick breeds out there! But not as many with feathered legs. I got a better picture of the little cutie where you can see her legs.

Any breed guesses for these day-old chicks?

tl;dr Any guesses on breed for these three? One black/silver, one peachy with faint red stripes on her back, one black/gold striped. The black/gold striped one has feathered legs. The longer story: We got four sexed chicks about four weeks ago. One of them turned out to be a roo, which made...
