Hello!
I got this jubilee orpington (Jujube) on 7/22 along with a light brahma (Pickles) from the local feed store. They said all chicks were female but s/he is maturing significantly faster than Pickles and is very feisty. I know they're too young to tell but the leg thickness and confidence...
This is helpful! My current coop is meant for 8 chickens and has a 9ft x 12ft run attached to it. I know the chickens only sleep and lay in the coop but it does seem small for 8 so we're building a larger one before we get new chicks.
We do really want a silkie so we will build the second coop...
I have a small flock of 5 adult hens ranging from 1 -5 years old (1 BO, 3 EE, 1 maran). I'm looking into adding 3 to my flock this spring - a brahma, another buff and potentially a silkie. I was thinking if I raise the 3 newbies together that although they'd be larger, they'd accept the silkie...
This is really helpful- thank you! We have enough space to make Hennessy her own living space alongside the current coop/run so we will try that. When we get our new chicks and they're ready, we'll still try to put them with Hennessy first to see if that could work.
Hello! Did this fix your issue? I also have 5 chickens after one passed and Hennessy our olive egger is bullied every day. She gets pecked when trying to roost, eat, or even be near the flock to dustbath. We plan to get two new chicks and was wondering if I introduced them to Hennessy first...
It could've been the 2 yr old Easter Egger. She was standing with the younger chickens when we heard the crowing. It's been happening every week or so and only in the morning. Super strange.
Hello!
I have a flock of 6 mixed chickens. We recently started hearing a crow and are trying to figure out who is doing it 🧐 Two hens are older and laying but the rest are about 5 -6 months old and we've had them all since they were a couple of weeks old. Our Easter Egger (Princess Laya)...
Hello! I got this little cutie as a hatchling and they have grown SIGNIFICANTLY faster than all the other babies I've had previously. Born June 4th. I'm hoping this baby is a hen but given his leg thickness and coloring I'm thinking it may be a roo. Very sweet temperament. Any thoughts are...
Would you be integrating them with another flock? I've raised these hens since they were a few weeks old so want to make sure they go to a proper new home :)
