When we first started raising chickens, we figured we'd never have more than three, so I bought a nice coop from a local coop builder. It was awesome, just what we needed.
But then I realized that we loved chickens and wanted more. We're not handy at all, and we struggled with how we'd...
Thanks for the advice! My GLW seems to be at about 95% normal, my Sussex seems better this morning, not herself by any stretch but she's drinking and eating, similar to the GLW yesterday. I'm baffled but grateful they seem to be recovering. The other three girls seem healthy and happy as normal.
I want to add that both hens are 15 months old. I have another 15 mo BO who seems fine and 2 36 week girls that are happy and healthy. I just ordered corid, figured I'd treat to see, but it won't get here until the 28th. I'm worried they'll all be sick or dead by then. I can't drive due to an...
So, a few days ago I noticed my GLW was a little slow, just not too excited about treats when I threw them out. She'd eat, but not with her normal gusto.
Yesterday I found her in the bushes, very lethargic, not eating or drinking. We put her in a box and kept her overnight in the garage...
Thanks, I love watching other chickens too! They are funny. I've been off work with a broken shoulder so I've been spending a lot of time outside with them. They're so spoiled.
My CM doesn't lay "chocolate" eggs, but to make up for it, I think she's a double yolker. Since she started laying about a month ago, I get a double yolk egg at least once a week sometime more often. Is this a thing with Marans or is she "special".
Also, she doesn't cluck like the other...
3 for 5 today. One I'm sure is a double yolk. Another is the first full sized from my easter egger. I keep track of my eggs per month. I'm up 16 this month over June.
My GLW Mabel is hopping mad that Betty and Hazel dare to tie up the 2 nesting boxes. She came to the back door to let me know. The other girls join in.
It makes me so sad. We love hanging out on the Illinois River in the summer. We were just camping at the trailhead and it was already so devastated from the Biscuit fire.
My friend just called me this morning, her pigs are having respiratory distress from the smoke. Not sure they're going...
