We have a 2 yr old Barred rock that broke her toe last summer. I'm guessing she broke it while jumping the fence into the neighbor's yard, little stinker. It never seemed to bother her, so we let her be. It healed, crooked, all on it's own. I think as long as the skin isn't broken, it should be...
We have a Speckled Sussex chick that is younger but looks a lot like your brown chick. I'm not very good at telling the breed when they are chicks, though.
Thank you. We tried, but I didn't figure out what was wrong until it was too late. I feel like I should give the 3remaining hens molasses water today to help flush their systems. Does anyone have any experience with this?
We dusted the chickens with Gardstar garden and poultry dust from TSC. We also used it in the coop, after a good cleaning.
We haven't used any medications, so far.
I really hope someone can help, our poor Dottie is not doing very well.
1) What type of bird , age and weight. 2 year old calif. white/ barred rock mix, not sure of her weight but she seems thin.
2) What is the behavior, exactly. Open-beak heavy breathing, just stands in one spot with wings...
I'm in Nebraska, but I've got 3 pairs I would part with. I'm not sure about shipping, though. If you can't find any near you, I could send them for the price of shipping.
I have 2 serama cockerels/chicks that are 5 weeks old. One is black and white, the other is all black. These little guys are so cute! The black and white one tried to crow, I thought it was the dog's squeek toy! I would love to keep them, but I've got too many roosters to hens.
Yeah, their brooder bulb is red. I think turning off the ceiling light helped. Whew! That really scared me! They just wouldn't stop. I hope this is the end of it. Thanks everyone
Well, I turned off the overhead light. Now, they just have light from the window and their brooder bulb. That seemed to calm them down. None of our other chicks ever fought like that, it really freaks me out! They were dragging each other around by whatever they could grab! One of the chicks had...
I have 3 serama chicks that are all from the same hatch. I just put them in a larger pen a few days ago, and today they are fighting! I mean really fighting, not playing. I don't know what to do! Does anyone have experience with this?
I have a trio of seramas in a chick-n-hutch in the basement for the winter. They are doing fine, though I may need to trim their nails before spring. They are next to a large sunny window and I give them veggies in a suet holder. I also have their offspring,a cockeral, I keep in a large...
