    I have 32 chickens total. 29 are about 5 months old. 3 are about 16 months old. One of my senior RIR ladys is loosing a lot of feathers. I figured that she is just moulting. My question is how long will they moult? I just want to make sure she is not sick.

    I'm surprised nobody has mentioned RIR. I have barred rock and RIR and I think both would be good table birds. My barred rock is a little thicker in the chest but the red is almost as big. They are both good layers. I don't know which one tastes better I haven't got that far in the game yet...

    How can i get my girls to go into the coop at night?

    I always put a little crack corn in their feeder when it is time for them to get in. The only time I have any problem is when I have to put them up early, like 7:00 or so. Then they are like my children, "I don't want to go to bed!" thus the chase is on. Good luck.
