Anyone want to trade a couple of old Hovabators (no turners) for a pullet or two? PM me!

In my case it did not spread to other chickens

another bubbly eye question - **pics**

I treated with terramycin but it didn't help. I also used saline squirt from Walgreens. Eventually the bubbles went away. She just had a bigger inner eyelid on that eye. Died of sour crop 2 years later (obviously unrelated to the eye issue).

Necropsy - **GRAPHIC pictures** - diagnosed! Ovarian cystadenocarcinomas

Don't let it discourage you, just deworm your flock to give yourself peace of mind. I use Valbazen oral injections once a year - 2 doses separated by 10 days

Necropsy - **GRAPHIC pictures** - diagnosed! Ovarian cystadenocarcinomas

Don't feel strange! I'm the original poster and put that it was graphic though I didn't really find it all that disturbing. I felt it polite to give a disclaimer though, for those with weak stomachs poking around the threads.

Necropsy - **GRAPHIC pictures** - diagnosed! Ovarian cystadenocarcinomas

So between the two prevailing suggested diagnoses here: cystic echinococcosis and "cancer" in general, I'm going to go with cancer. This may be due in part to my own being in denial that it could be something my other chickens or my family could get , but I do have at least some scientific...

Necropsy - **GRAPHIC pictures** - diagnosed! Ovarian cystadenocarcinomas

I agree, and each of the "bubbles" had veins going to them. Some of them broke as I was trying to pull out all the innards to examine - I had to yank quite hard to get what I could out. What was inside of them was a clearish/bloodyish thin fluid.

Necropsy - **GRAPHIC pictures** - diagnosed! Ovarian cystadenocarcinomas

She was a Splash Andalusian, yes, in San Diego county. She came from a hatchery, I'm not sure which one because I got her from someone else who had ordered many chicks. I have no others left from that group of pullets I got (sold/rehomed long ago). She was probably about 3.5 years old, the...

San Diego Chicken meetup and Chat thread

Hi all, Not chicken related this time but I'm hoping someone on here might be able to help. I have a doe with a litter of 6 - they are 9 days old. The doe has developed an inflamed cyst or abscess and my best chance is to integrate her kits into another litter so I can treat her with...

Necropsy - **GRAPHIC pictures** - diagnosed! Ovarian cystadenocarcinomas

Can anyone tell me what this is? I'm guessing cancer, but the pictures I've come across in research don't quite look like THIS. Symptoms were: floppy comb, purple at the tips, poopy butt, lethargy, no interest in scratch, I didn't see her eat pellets, though she was interested in drinking water...

SO many fully developed quail chicks not hatching

I must add that this is supposedly a 'dry incubation' method, and also, during the first 13 days sometimes the humidity drops all the way down to 20% or less. It's not a big deal to us when that happens, we just put enough water in to up it back to 35%. During hatch, the humidity shoots itself...

SO many fully developed quail chicks not hatching

As the original poster, I wanted to reply. I have gotten the problem under control and am experiencing 80-90% success now. One of my problems was that I was using a digital thermometer/humidity reader which I have since realized is very inaccurate. Get the analog (dial) ones from the reptile...

Yes, they are substantially larger than button quail. 2 whole quails = a meal for 1 person. We usually keep 36 in the grow-out pen and sell the rest to make up for cost of buying the eggs on ebay, and feed.. not looking to make a profit, just break even. 36 quail is 9 meals for my husband and I...
