Help! My 5 yo scribbled on his face w/ a Sharpie!!!!!!

My children did the same thing to each other! Just the other day! I freaked out. My husband used rubbing alcohol and it worked like a charm! I'd give him a shower after you do it, just to remove the alcohol and make sure it does not stay on the skin. But, it does work!

Anyone else use a radio in the coop?

I have had a predator kill my chickens and I came on here asking for help and a lot of folks said to use a radio in the coop. They also said that even though this sounds gross, have a dog or human urinate around the coop. I have tried this and it works!! Good luck!

How did you come up with your screen name?

We have mostly RI Reds and New Hampshire Reds so.....that is how I came up with my name. Pretty simple.

    How Did You Discover BYC?

Anytime I went online to look up a chicken question, this site always popped up. I have been addicted ever since!!!

    Scat Near Chicken Coop

 Ok, bad news.......it was a bear that attacked out baby chicks. The scat.....not sure, it still may be coon, but it was a bear who ate the chicks. We have it on film from the camera my DH hung that was around the coop. The bear is about 1-2 years old and weighs about 150 pounds. My...

THINK THE HEAT GOT TO HER

I am so glad your little girl is doing better! I am sooooo thankful for this site! I had no idea about soft eggs. That is really something! I have learned so much from this site and all the lovely chicken lovers on it! It is sooooo hot here too and my chickens were panting. My husband...

    Scat Near Chicken Coop

After looking at raccoon scat I would say it had to be a raccoon that got into the run. My husband said that the earth was dug up around the bottom of the chicken wire and raccoons have the "hands" to do that. We have fox around here too. My husband will be putting up one of those cameras...

    Scat Near Chicken Coop

Gosh all of you are WONDERFUL!!! I really appreciate all of the feedback. I think it is either coon or black bear too. We have black bears here. They are not roaming around here as they do in Alaska and it is rare to see them every day but, they have been spotted at my house as recent as...

    Scat Near Chicken Coop

I read on this site how to post photos and then I got an account with Photobucket so that I could post. I sure hope I did it right! Anyway, if you can see the above photos (which are not very clear but, I did not want to get close to it) you will see what I mean. It is chocked full of seeds.

    Scat Near Chicken Coop

Thanks for all of the comments so far! I finally had the chance when my son went down for his nap to run outside and have the pleasure of taking photos of the scat found around our house. Yippee. I'd like to post the photo I took in my message but I can't figure out how to do it. I am new...

    Scat Near Chicken Coop

Thanks so much Miss the_North!! Those are excellent tips! I am so glad I posted this because there have been many sleepless nights with me. We do have black bears here and I am not sure what they eat around here but I do know there are berry bushes around in the fields behind my house. My...

    Scat Near Chicken Coop

http://www.visualsunlimited.com/browse/vu227/vu227597.html I hope the above link works. A couple of nights ago six of our chickens were killed. It was terrible! Something dug a hole around the run and 6 of the chicks got out and were eaten. Whatever attacked them left NOTHING behind but...

What to feed for tasty eggs?

We feed our chickens (as scraps) strawberries and apples. Our eggs taste fantastic and friends/family/co-workers who take or buy our eggs say they are the best they have ever had. I agree not to feed them greasy food or onions. Onions is a huge mistake. We also let our chickens roam around...

    Weak/Sick baby

I am so sorry to hear Penny that you lost her!! You took such good care of her and you did the best you could! I know it is frustrating, but we can all say that you gave more than 100% to keep her alive and at least she died peacefully in a nice warm and safe environment that you provided her...
