    Adjusting chicks to Texas weather

We are in the so cal high desert. Our temps have been in the 95-112 range for a little over a month now. Our chickens are 4 months old and 6 weeks old. We have shade cloth around the sides of our runs and we installed misting hoses. Our chickens aren’t down for frolicking in water at all, so...

Achilles tendon or something else? Please help, she seems to be worse.

I’m so sorry about your chick. Our very favorite hen dislocated her leg joint and was in a similar state recently. I assumed too that it was the tendon, but it didn’t get better. By the time we were able to get into a vet 10 days later it was beyond repair. We loved her enough to look into...

    Plugged...Something?

One of our chicks (6 weeks old) has something wrong that we are having trouble identifying. When we spotted it we thought it was a case of pasty butt and possibly even a prolapse, but it’s actually above it’s vent. To one side of the tail feather area it’s swollen, and the center has about a...

Aggressive rooster and small children, really need some answers asap

My boy was the sweetest ever. Untill the little jerk bit me. 😆 I'm just glad he is bonded with my family or it could be alot worse.. Its kinda my fault though. I live in town and I bring him in at night so he doesn't disturb my neighbors. He only bites after 5. Everyone now knows; don't touch...

I Think We’re Doing It Wrong

It was one of those ones that has the hard candy coating on the outside. I guess that’s what saved us a huge mess 🙌

I Think We’re Doing It Wrong

Backstory: My other half and I are new to hatching chickens. We have two incubators with a variety of eggs about 10 days in and we are nervous new parents, but SO excited. Also, we have a huge natural quail population in our five acre yard. Today one of us found a quail egg, and thought, “what...

Does little giant automatic egg turner work?

I have never witnessed mine *moving*, however it does seem to be in a different position when I check on it. The instruction manual on it when I first bought it mentioned that the rotation can take up to 4 hours, so it may be that it’s just moving imperceptibly slowly.
