Looking for ornamental type of HENS. I live in the North Georgia area (45 mins north of Atlanta) Only looking for 2. If any one has any that are definitely HENS i would love to see some photos. Thanks
I'm in North georgia. And with this wacky weather we are having. Like today was 70. Tomorrow 45 and rain. Our youngers of the three don't quite have all their feathers. Theit heads are still furry with small feathers coming through. Hopefully in a weeks time they will be okay. Then I won't...
I do have a heat lamp in there. That's why I'm wondering why they are preferring the cold ground as to a nice warm cozy henhouse. Troubleshoot I guess is what I'll have to do....thanks all
I have one nine week old and two 7 week old chicks and I have 3 adults who all share the same hen house but at night my chicks will actually nest at the base of the ramp but they will go up and down the ramp all day long in and out from curiosity. but at night they would rather nest at the base...
Oh wow. Didn't not know there was a difference when it came down to age. They don't mind him one bit. They follow him everywhere he goes, and he let's them know he is in charge. And our cockerel is a silkie as well. Maybe that's why they get along so well
We have 2 5wk old orpingtons and one 7wk old sussex. For our "adult" flock we have a 6mo old rooster and 2 silkie hens about 1.5yrs old. We got our baby chicks a week and a half ago, and a created a cage out of a plastic tote and put it in the henhouse with the adults. At first the adult would...
Thanks. However we have discovered she is sick. And the mortality rate is 100% at this age. So we are treating her as if she will pull thru and making her as comfy as possible
4 week old orpington was found in its cage with its other sister and appears to be hurt not favoring her left leg. At first we thought she was cold bc she was wet. We have her swaddled in a towel and we are holding her. She peeps and puts up a little fight. But won't stand. I looked at her left...
So after getting rid of my RIR I got 3 3wk old orpingtons and one 5wk old sussex. They spent a week in a separate coop. I have added them to the henhouse in a cage bc it is too cold for them without a heat lamp. My adults still will not go in henhouse without some coaxing. But what I find weird...
I'm a little bit of a redneck, bit I would put that she'd in place of the old coop. Cut a door under that window so you can still have viewing pleasure and if the sun rises on that window it can heat it in winters. Maybe slap some shelving/nesting boxes up inside. May not be the prettiest but I...
I put the little ladies in the henhouse with the adults tonite. Right under the heat lamp. Other than the "youngins" peeping nonstop the adults don't seem to mind. Pictures to follow tomorrow!
