If you have the regular old Pharaoh Coturnix then you should easily be able to distinguish the males from females. Females have speckles/dots all over their chest where as the males have a rust colored chest (no dots or speckles).

Well let me start by saying, I have never seen that much snow ever lol. Here in Central Alabama it very very rarely ever snows. Aside from maybe a snow flurry or 2 it has not snowed here in maybe 5 years and even then it was only maybe an inch and even that melted away by the afternoon.

Look at getting one from GQF. They probably make the best there is for small scale hatching. Plus they sale replacement parts for the products in case something ever needs replacing down the road.

Definitely just fix up what you have and keep in mind that there "free range" run area will need some sort of cover over the top of it else you will be running a buffet for hawks. You can buy large nylon poultry nets off of amazon for pretty cheap that work well for covering runs.
