    Inherited coop

Ok. Well I am glad to hear it. Seems like they have settled down a bit. I would imagine they will be just fine.

    Concrete block chicken coop

Lol. Not trying to be rude. If anything, just messing with them.

Also, regardless of what you do. They should calm down over the next few days once they settle into there new home. As far as additives, I am big fan of ACV. I will throw a little in the water for all my animals.

    Inherited coop

I would just turn them loose in the whole run. Give them room to move around so they are not freaking out and piling up in that tiny little corner next to the laying boxes. At least if they are huddled together in a corner of the pen they are not wedging themselves between something and piling...

How in the world did you find this old thread? and then proceed to reply to it? LMAO Talk about bringing something back from the dead. Did the OP ever end up building one? Would be interested to see what they came up with if they did.

Help! To modify old coop or not?!?

Yea. I would always recommend having some kind of wind block. Not proud of it but when I first decided to get into keeping chickens around 8-9 years ago I had a rooster that got frostbite on his comb due to heavy winds and it was only in the upper 20s that night. He lived but till this day I...

Quail hatched in October, shouldn't they be laying by now?

If you have the regular old Pharaoh Coturnix then you should easily be able to distinguish the males from females. Females have speckles/dots all over their chest where as the males have a rust colored chest (no dots or speckles).

Well let me start by saying, I have never seen that much snow ever lol. Here in Central Alabama it very very rarely ever snows. Aside from maybe a snow flurry or 2 it has not snowed here in maybe 5 years and even then it was only maybe an inch and even that melted away by the afternoon.

Look at getting one from GQF. They probably make the best there is for small scale hatching. Plus they sale replacement parts for the products in case something ever needs replacing down the road.

What king of incubator do you currently have? If your temperature is not consistent throughout the incubator then it sounds like you don't enough air circulation within the incubator. GQF makes really good incubators. I have one of there cabinet models and would highly recommend them to anyone...

Newborn quails not eating, flipping on their backs

You should probably go get some actual Gamebird Starter which is available at TSC or your local feed store(which is probably cheaper than TSC) to ensure you are feeding them what they need. No offense to "the guy you got them from" but just because that is what he feeds his doesn't mean it's the...

Help! To modify old coop or not?!?

Definitely just fix up what you have and keep in mind that there "free range" run area will need some sort of cover over the top of it else you will be running a buffet for hawks. You can buy large nylon poultry nets off of amazon for pretty cheap that work well for covering runs.

I have 6 pens that are basically identical to what you have except that they are 3x8 and have no dividers. They have 1/2" hardware cloth for the floor. Those pens do work great for raising coturnix in. I use them now just to raise the birds that end up in the freezer. It's an easy build that...
