I put my geese away every night, just like @Goosebaby suggests. We're on a schedule that they comply with willingly due to food/treat rewards. I really hope you keep that bird. You've really got a special one if you can pet it. My special bird is no longer with me due to gander on gander...
My goose is not laying eggs yet. She laid 65 last year, starting in late February. She seems healthy. Appetite and attitude is good. She and her mate are mating daily and she even instigates "fun time" quite often. They both show interest in the nest as well. The only thing I've noticed that is...
My birds have taken over my 10x12 shed. It is now mostly insulated and I have a radiant heating "plate" which they cannot come in direct contact with and a 750w heating fan which is suspended 6' in the air which I will be turning on at nights when temperatures go below 0F. We had extremes of...
My goose and gander were hatched June 2020 and did not display mating behavior until Feb 2021 which continued through middle June 2021. I just caught them in their pool "doing the deed". My concern is that the male did a good(bad) job of pulling most of her neck feathers out across this time...
Unless there's something specific that is concerning you, they are probably OK. They look just like mine when their adult feathers were coming in. If it's cold by you, they may not be ready for the unforgiving weather quite yet.
My geese are thoroughly spoiled. I clean their coop out every morning. Water change comes next. When I pick up the pooper scooper again, they know they are going out of the yard, into the neighborhood for a walk. They get so excited, they streak across the yard while honking from excitement...
My goose laid her first two eggs outside. I moved her eggs into a "dogloo" filled with timothy grass and alfala hay. The dogloo was placed inside their nighttime enclosure. She initially tried to rebuild her outdoor nest and I ended up filling it with bricks and concrete chunks. She then...
The pool was like molten lava delivered by satan the first time I threw them in. Now they love it. I ended up with a mated pair that follows me everywhere. When it starts to get dark they run to stay near me. I am their person. They DO NOT like being touched. I almost think that they...
