Hi - me again! This is my last egg (all the rest where bad)
This is around day 10 - does this look like a bad egg to you guys?
It moves around a lot inside the egg when you move it...? I don’t really know what’s right or wrong yet as I’m fairly new to this!
Any help would be super <3
:fl :jumpy:jumpy
Please note I get a better view with my cell phone flashlight than ANY candler I've used. ;)
Haha I’m new to this so I am yet to get my hands on any equipment I’m going for the British classic ‘make do and mend’ ... haha @EggSighted4Life
I’m fairly new to orpingtons as I’ve previously just had egg laying hybrids, so I had no idea I needed to up the protein (note to self - do more research!)
I will definitely invest in a better feed! Scrambled eggs will also be a Sunday treat from now on.
Does anyone else have any thoughts...
I’m just feeding them layers pellets and then corn for scratching around the pen, I haven’t had a successful hatch yet no, I’ve only had these birds around 6 months as a dog got my last flock :(
The woman told me he had a good success rate but maybe she was telling fibs ...
My birds are roughly two years old and they are orpington (large fowl not bantam) so maybe the feathers are the issue? I know he is fertile as one of the first batch of eggs did have a chick inside but it died after it pipped :(
Hi guys, so my first broody ended up with 0 chicks (all early death or yolkers and one died after it pipped) and now I have another broody, she was sitting on 7 eggs, she smashed one, I’ve candled 6 , 5 empty and 1 that looks like something’s happened but I don’t think it looks right? (Picture...
One of the eggs looked like they’d pipped so I left it and left it, I’ve just opened it up and it’s just full of yellow liquid...?
I’ve thrown two away, and I have three left that I’ve candled, but I’m not sure what I’m looking for (first timer here) this is day 25
I have a broody who’s been sitting, she’s on day 24, with no hatching action as of yet...
How long do I leave her before I take her off the nest?
Any advice would be fabulous! I just don’t want to do it too soon, or leave her too long ...
It’s popped up in a chicken free patch of garden so no worries on that count, it’s more just simple curiosity haha ... there seem to be a few of them floating around now I’ve had a proper look.
Very strange ...
Can anyone identify this plant for me? It’s popped up in my front garden and I don’t know whether to leave it be or pull it up... I’m in the UK if that helps at all ...
Hi guys, I recently lost my flock to a loose dog (very very sad) the woman who owned the dog gave me some money to get new hens so I found some orpingtons for sale.
They are good stock as they were used for breeding but the woman no longer wanted to breed them so they were not being kept in...
