    What is this?

So she's a mutt chicken. She has a pointed, narrow face and neck and reminds me of some kind of chicken you would see in a tropical setting.

    What is this?

Thanks for the replies. Well maybe she is part Rhode Island? Her tail sticks up like a leghorn, also.

    What is this?

    Not the Orphington. :)

    What is this?

What is this chicken? I bought her because she looked neat. She was in a pen with some Rhode Islands and others that looked similar to this one. Thanks!

Do I need to worry about eating these eggs or not?

I have one chicken and she roams the yard all day and my dog keeps her company out there. :) She is a buff orphington hen, just started laying eggs and I happened to come across the threads about worms and having to administer medicine to the hens 2x a year. And then I saw the picture of the...

    Affectionate hen?

Yea I don't want her to be alone too much longer. She laid a nice brown egg for me today and came running out of the coop just as soon as she laid it to tell everyone about it. I thought it was pretty funny.

    Affectionate hen?

Sometimes I pick her up, but most of the time her feet are dirty (with dirty sand, I'm in sandy-soil FL :). I just have 1 chicken and I let her roam the yard all day. My dog keeps her company off and on when I let him out, but I'm trying to find her another hen so she won't be alone.

    Affectionate hen?

My buff orphington hen greets me at the door every time I go outside and squats down right at my feet. Does she want me to pick her up? Do they like to be held? I raised her from a chick but this is a new behavior she's picked up. She is really sweet, though. Just some thoughts .=o)

One of my hens is picking on my dog.

Yep, military family here at Eglin and Duke. I'll try a spray bottle and see how that goes. Thanks for the reply and the welcome. :)

One of my hens is picking on my dog.

Thanks for the reply. I'm going to just keep watch when I'm out with them and try to reprimand her somehow when she acts aggressively towards him. I guess chickens can be trained also? :)

One of my hens is picking on my dog.

Well the bigger hen picks on her, so maybe she is picking on him to take out her frustration.

This is them hanging out in the yard. Taken a few months ago.

One of my hens is picking on my dog.

I have two Buff Orphington hens and the smaller one is attacking my Italian Greyhound. I have trained him to leave the hens alone while he is in the backyard with them. She will charge at him and peck at his face. I'm worried that she might injure one of his eyes. Should I get rid of her or...
