Tiny chick: can I do anything else?

Just wanted to update on Bon-bon. As soon as he got better, he took off. He's about a week behind everyone in growth, but has been growing steadily. He can't see any difference in himself and his siblings and makes up for the size difference with lots of personality. I kept up with our routine...

What breed and what gender - pictures

Oops, missed the absence of white ears. Agree it's a welsummer.

What breed and what gender - pictures

One of the white rocks definitely appears to be a rooster. I agree with the other poster: two pullets-one facing left in its solo pic looks like a brown leghorn, and the one facing right in its solo pic looks like a golden laced wyandote. You do not necessarily have to get rid of your second...

Tiny chick: can I do anything else?

Recently I picked up 2 Ayam Cemani chicks at a chicken swap. They were supposedly a few days old, but while one looked it, the other resembled a fuzzy ping pong ball with sticks for legs. It was just too tiny. I brought it home anyway (sucker for the tiny and broken things) and set about the...

Runners or khakis, pekin or white layer?

So we're at six weeks (well, a little over) and they are starting to fill out. At this point I was realizing I likely have 3 boys to 2 girls and was getting pretty concerned for the future. A local person posted on the local facebook page that their ducks had hidden a nest that they'd found too...

Runners or khakis, pekin or white layer?

A little late but here's 5 weeks. I definitely have 1 female: she's quacking like a champ. She's the brown with the lighter tail feathers. I'm fairly certain the one with the darker tail feathers is a male, and then the blue runner is still a mystery. I'm thinking he might be a boy lately though...

Runners or khakis, pekin or white layer?

Alright we're 4 weeks in and they are feathering in fast. It's amazing how quickly they transform. Marinette (head turning dark, starting with a stripe down the middle) has begun making quack like noises, and occasionally Ladybug (blue) has been making similar sounds though far less often, so...

    Virginia

Hi everyone. New member here in Franklin County (south of Roanoke). I began the year with 0 poultry, and now they're everywhere, haha and I love it. I played duckling roulette with the tractor supply mystery duckling bin and ended up with 3 drake's to one duck, which is not going to work. Anyone...

Runners or khakis, pekin or white layer?

TSC. They're the only local place that sells ducks, beyond some people that sell silver apple yard drakes on craigslist, so I took a chance with their mystery bin of straight run ducks. Whatever they turn out to be I love them to bits.

Runners or khakis, pekin or white layer?

Neither one ever gets as straight and tall as the blue, although the slightly darker one gets closer to it. It's what makes me second guess. They have the same feathers coming in, but one brown does get up pretty straight and tall in comparison with the other. They're still mystery babies...

Runners or khakis, pekin or white layer?

I've added some updated pictures. They grow so fast! :)

Runners or khakis, pekin or white layer?

So here's an update WITH pictures ;). Babies are 3 weeks old now and starting to get some pretty feathers. Definitely have a blue runner, and a pretty one at that. I'm fairly convinced that the 2 browns are the same breed whatever they are, and getting a real strong Khaki Campbell vibe from the...

Made a video so you all could see them in action.

Runners or khakis, pekin or white layer?

Thanks! They're super precious little babies and I'm excited to watch them transform over the next few months. I've put in a couple more pictures. This is the body carriage they have most of the time.

What kind of duck do I have???

He looks like the Welsh harlequin ducklings that come up in a Google image search. Just a guess on my part.
