    Ancona duckling hatching

This is my second hatching so I'm still new to hatching. My first hatch I started incubating 30 eggs but only 13 hatched. This time I had 42 eggs I started with and when I went into lockdown I showed 34 with life. During my first hatch it was three days after lockdown I had my first pip and...

    little giant 9300

Thanks for the replies. I was trying to hatch some Easter Egger eggs. At the time of collecting it was cold and I don't think many of them were fertile. Right now I am incubating 28 duck eggs and 9 chicken eggs (brown no green). My humidity has not gotten above 40, and I have these in a...

What temp and humidity do you have your incubator on for your duck eggs?

    little giant 9300

Hello everyone I'm new to the whole hatching world and bought a little giant incubator from a girl at a yard sale. I bought a new hygrometer to make sure my incubator digital screen was reading correctly, which it wasn't...yikes! So my incubator was set and held a temp of 100 and my humidity...

My Yes it is a factor. But I dry incubate. As long as it doesn't go below a20 percent I don't fret about it. If it does I add just like a tablespoon of water. I also try to keep it below 40 if I can. I have drowned a lot of chicks by using the manual. Humidity is a trial and error process...

    Two different breed of Roos

Thanks, I just did my first incubation and it didn't turn out good but those eggs were from another rooster I had before and it was pointed out that I didn't have my temp high enough. I appreciate the link and your response

    Two different breed of Roos

Thanks for the reply. I have people interested in both male/female chicks they were not ready for my grown rooster. I didn't even think about the days lengthening so I appreciate you pointing that out to me. This is why I love and appreciate Backyard I can post things and getting opinions to...

    Two different breed of Roos

I have only had the rooster for a little over a month. The previous rooster I had kept trying to attack my little one so I had a friend take him to ensure he didn't wind up on someone's table. All but 8 of my hens were raised from chicks. When I got my roo they said he was around 10 months...

Mine has the egg turner so I don't have to worry about turning the eggs. So you are suggesting that I make the temp 101 until hatch and keep humidity level same as I have been doing?

    Two different breed of Roos

Okay thanks, he is a young roo but I just had a bunch of eggs I collected and incubated but none of them turned out fertile. So it's been a few things adding up making me consider another roo in the flock. I definitely don't want any fighting but would like the reassurance of knowing my eggs...
