Nipple vs. cup waterers and auto fill

If you go to any rv store they will sell a pressure reducer which just attaches to a garden hose. Some are adjustable and may get you close to the pressure you're looking for. Good luck

Nipple vs. cup waterers and auto fill

@camkim I am planning to build the same 4" PVC waterer as in your photo. How many chickens do you have using the 2 cups? Trying to decide if 2 will be enough

Chickens don't know to go to bed

Been trying the light in the coop for a few days. Worked some nights and not others. Figured out that ambient light is key. Pointed at the roof and they go right in. Pointed at the door and they don't. Tonight I pointed the light straight up and threw some BOSS in and up the ramp and everyone...

Chickens don't know to go to bed

So my 9 week old lavender orpingtons have been in their coop for a little over a week. They come running out into their run when I let them out in the mornings but they will not go into the coop at night. They are always curled up in the corner of their run under the coop and I have to crawl...

    ABS or PVC pipe

OK. So I have been looking at all of the wonderful DIY feeders around and everyone seems to be using the white PVC pipe. I noticed the black ABS pipe is quite a bit cheaper but no one seems to use it. Does anyone have any idea why? Thanks for the help

    Spring 2017 first timers post!

So after much "discussion" my wife and her friend convinced me to get 8 one week old lavender orpingtons from a local breeder. We have never had birds of any kind before so this has been a huge learning curve. We are allowed 6 hens only in our city but assumed a couple at least would be...

    Chicken coop design

I live in South western British Columbia. We just had the worst "winter "in several years which meant -11C on the coldest night and just over 2 inches of snow that stayed for a couple weeks. Yesterday was partly cloudy and 7c. I expect my girls will be out in the run most days of the year. I do...
