Hey there, my duck got caught in a fishing hook on Monday (June 14) since we live on a lake we are guessing someone lost their fishing line due to it being snagged or a fish took it. However, we isolated the duck to prevent infection and to let it heal. She seemed extremely stressed out and...
Yes I am definitely able to check her wound daily. They usually come home 3 times a day or at least twice to eat food. I could try oral antibiotics I just don't know what kind I should use and how much. Also, I have no clue how to get just her to have her own kind of food. My ducks usually eat...

Hey there,
I have two adult Pekin ducks and I was wondering what the lowest temperature they are able to handle being outside and not in a shelter. I know they do well in shelter but was wondering how warm it has to be for them to be able to stay outside all day or night. (They sometimes sleep...
In addition to everyone else advice. I would contact a vet. And ask for advice and some medicine that you can use to help. I am so sorry that this happened and I feel for you too.:hugs
That is very funny to me too. My Pekin ducks spend all day in my lake in the backyard. Ducks, naturally love the water. As long as they aren't shivering or cold then I wouldn't worry about it. Ducks love the water!
Ok, thanks. So is the infection drying out a good sign? Does it mean that it's not affecting the time as much? I know the ducks been walking around a lot better
Yes now that I think of it, it did seem very dry. Do you think human lotion would help on the toe? Or would there be too many chemicals in the lotion? I'll send pics tomorrow.
Hey, so Holly (duck with toe issue) was doing well. But yesterday I had an family emergency and wasn't able to soak her foot in the Epsom salt water for 20 minutes. Today, I did it again but her toe infection looks different. Instead of the bumps being more together. There are cracks between...
Bumblefoot is very easy to fix. And it seems like you have caught it early. I would soak it in Epsom Salt everyday preferably 20 minutes a day. But you can slowly work your way up to it. For every coffee cup amount of water add a tablespoon of the Epsom salt to it. Epsom salt is very cheap and...
I have Pekin ducks as well. When they were young they would never really swim. (My backyard has a lake.) But the only time they would it would only be by shore in the shallow end where they can stand up. But now they love swimming! They even swim everywhere on the lake now. The dive underwater...
