I brought home this little cutie a few days ago, she came from a wyandotte bin at the feed store, but they did not all look the same, and I was wondering if anyone can tell what type of wyandotte she is by her coloring. Her name is Winifred, Winnie for short.
Lebanon and surrounding areas, we will be moving to, and starting a small hobby farm, just outside the city in another 2-3 weeks. I was hoping to get some leads on feed stores, private sellers etc. for supplies to include chicken feed +, dog food and other misc items used on a farm. I like to...
We got this egg this morning, my cuckoo maran is about 6 months old. It's a bit oddly shaped and so big, I was searching for a similar one on BYC, maybe we have one of those egg inside of an egg eggs?
The color is off too, her eggs are usually much darker, but sometimes they are multi colored...
You're right, I googled NHR, and she looks just like them! I wonder if she is a cross though, because she didn't look like the chicks that I saw, as a baby she looked like an Easter Egger, that caterpillar look, this is her as a younger chick, and then slightly older.
For a moment I thought she might be a Wellie, but that thread said no, and that she is probably an Easter Egger, a cross breed, which is certainly possible, I guess I'll find out when she starts to lay. :) Thanks for all your help!
Lol, yes, I think the boys are a bit camera shy. I don't remember it being raspy, but I will listen for his next attempt. I just assume mine are all girls until I have reason to believe otherwise, and so far I think I just have the one roo, although my chicks range from almost a month to...
I'm not sure how to describe it, like there's a noise trying to come out, but it's having a really hard time, lol. I suspect it's a "crow" because its different than any other noise that they make, and only Petunia (or Phineas if he turns out to be a roo) has made it so far. Also, because he...
These 2 silkies are my first 2 chickens, other chicks came shortly after. I think the black (or blue? ) one is a rooster, he/she sounds like he's attempting to crow, plus she's substantially larger than Fiona (the smudge, or splash) also the comb is larger, but like I said, they are my first...
Thank you everyone for your thoughts! As a chick she had the caterpillar stripe on her head and back, and that beautiful and striking eyeliner mark. So far I've found that Wellys look like that, as well as red sexlinks and some Easter eggers, the red sexlink thread said she is not one of...
For the Welsummer experts out there, this is Meatball, she was a mystery chick at the feed store, to cute not to take home, but I've been trying to figure out what she is since I brought her home, could she be a Welsummer? This is her at 4 1/2 weeks.
This is her at 3 weeks, Tansy, My Cuckoo...
I looked at pictures of all those as chicks and they don't resemble her as a baby. She had that dark brown caterpillar stripe on her head and down her back like an Araucana but she has tail feathers, so she can't be. She also has yellow legs and no cheek tuffs so she can't be an Americana...
Hi, I'm new to chickens, as a matter of fact, this is my first post on BYC. My question to all of you experienced Red sexlink owners out there - is my chick one? She was a mystery chick at the feed store, not on their invoice, although they did have gold sexlinks in there with her. Meatball...
