Are bantam breeds better suited for indoor setups?

I guess I would ask, what's wrong with a dog, or cat, or ferret, or rabbit. They all make great pets and are much more suited to living inside. As someone who has had all these pets, and just now got chickens, I can say that chickens make the worst indoor pets of them all. Sooooooooo muchhhhhhhh...

I just wanted to post some pictures!

The coop is in progress ... we're a little behind on that unfortunately. But I'm hoping to get it up by the time they are about 4 weeks old or so. And we have a 'playpen' sorta thing set up in the back yard so we can start getting them some outside time next week!

If you could communicate a thought to your chickens, what would it be?

I've had my chickens for maybe two weeks, so I haven't "learned" their language yet. But it would be: "I'm your friend!". I know they will learn it and they are, but it would still be nice :D

    Is this normal behavior?

Hello! Just received our little ducklings this morning and we are wondering if this is normal duck stuff. In particular we are wondering about our magpie. She has been stamping her feet and pecking at them quite a bit since we got her. She also keeps looking up and silently chirping. (If that...

Silke Chick with leg problems. Help please!

Thanks for replying! I really appreciate the advice. I'm glad to know I wasn't to far off. I'll definitely look for some B-complex! We took her hobble off for an hour, like you suggest, and she was walking a little better. (Not completely though) Once again, thank you!

Silke Chick with leg problems. Help please!

Hi all, Just got my very first flock of chicks and we couldn't be more excited. However, when we got them we noticed that one of our Silkie bantams wasn't walking very well. After some research I though it was spraddle leg and made a quick hobble with vet tape. It has been two days (she is...
