    I just got my first egg from my rhode island red on Saturday at about 2:00pm, so I was expecting one by at least 5:00pm yesterday. Now it is Monday at 6:30pm and still haven't gotten a 2nd egg ?? The only reason I thought of was that she didn't get enough calcium in her grower/starter feed ?

    I've watched them go in there at night, and she just goes straight to her corner of the coop. And she can definitely fly...I have seen her fly over a 4ft fence, and just flew up to their coop tonight. I also haven't been giving them grit because they have been out there for 3 months now...

    As i said thanks a lot, but what do you mean by adding herbs to nest boxes ? What does the garlic do for the water ? What type of light do I need in MN (gets down to -30 or -40 in winter), and do i need a timer for it ?

    Congrats on the wedding! Welcome to BYC! Your new farm home sounds amazing and like my dream home...I just recently got four pullets from a nearby feed mill. You could search for the nearest one on google, then call and order or ask if they have any extra.
