My blue/green EE eggs have hatched. It was my first try and 5 are now in the brooder. Not the highest hatch rate, but it is a start! And they are cute! :yesss:
I have a few day-old chicks that I need to integrate with another group of chicks that are 9 days older. All are EEs from the same flock. Would it be best to integrate sooner or a bit later? I can wait until the chicks are 11 and 20 days old if that would help?
I was so afraid I would have a failed hatch - my incubator temperature may have been a bit low. I am so glad I have 5 little EEs! I turned off the heat lamp to get a picture. Group pics are always a challenge!
I have eggs from my EE hens currently on day 12! I lost a couple and one was clear. So far, 8 look good and one is a bit iffy. Can't wait for cute little chicks!
Yea! Learned how to candle. Found two quitters (blood ring) a couple days ago and removed those. I thought I might have a couple infertile, but recandled those two again today (day 8), and one of the two is going strong. So... 9 so far are developing well! So happy! :love
I am incubating for the first time and believe I have two with blood rings. :( Temp and humidity have been steady at 95.5 and 45%. This is the first time I have opened the incubator - day 6. Are these blood rings? Is there anything I could have done to prevent it?
First, so thankful this site has great advice and support! I just loaded my new Kebonnixs this evening and am hatching for the first time. Wish me luck. Pics are attached.
Thank you so much! That was exactly what I needed to know and could not find a definitive answer elsewhere.
(Thank you also for the picture of the chart. That is a very wide range of colors.)
