Hi there I'm thinking about getting turkeys what is the basic care for them what food do they eat how much space do they need and is it hard to incubate their eggs?
I've incubated Quail, Lohman Brown, and chicken mutts but whenever I try incubating my Silkie, Belgian D'uccle, and Old english game eggs they never hatch. I've only had one time that one Belgian D'uccle chick hatched but that was the only one. When I cool my eggs I keep them at a temperature of...
I've had quail hatch on a turning tray and their usually fine as long as the tray is on the ground. But I would get them out of their turning tray asap
I don't know what egg impaction is and usually hens only take a day to adjust to their surroundings. Hens egg production is strong for the first year of its life then it drops to the occasional egg laid a day so with your hen it could be just that or it stopped laying all together.
Four ounces of feed is enough for each hen to lay and survive. I give them an egg layer powder feed as well as corn and another seed for a snack. The rooster is to fertilize the eggs. Also When I bought the Lohman the guy said they would be laying that week and that was when they were 18 weeks old
Most of my Lohman Browns have not been laying since I got them. I do not know what disease it was but the symptoms were shyness, green diarrhea, coughing, sneezing and super lazy. I gave them a medication called 26/52 plus and a diarrhea pill. Does anyone know what disease this is.
I don't know what is wrong with my hens though but they are not laying anymore! About last week they got sick and two died but I medicated them and they are all fine. I have two breeds of chicken that are my layers. One is the Lohman Browns and the other are chicken mutts. I give them four...
Hey KalChickenCrew
It really depends on the gender, the breed, age, and whether the hens are laying or not. A hen that is laying (or not) can live off 4 ounces a day and still be very healthy and produce eggs. A chick doesn't particularily eat a alot of food but it still depends on the breed...
