They are drinking the Tiagard luckily. I found a site that said to put 4ml for each gallon. I put a little bit more probably because I used 2 teaspoon as the closest measurement I have.
I bought the Fenbendazole, it arrives tomorrow. Thank you so much for your help! So far both sneezy...
Apologies, not Vetericyn, I meant Ivermectin! That’s what I gave them a pea size of. I was under the impression I’ll that I do another pea size in 5 days.
I do see the sneezing, mucus, and coughing, but their eyes aren’t swollen or bubbly that I can see.
I put the tiagard in their water...
Hi there,
Two of my standard-sized chickens have mucous in their mouths and are coughing for the past week, but they are both still laying eggs daily and acting normal otherwise, although eating a bit less food than usual. Their coop has plenty of ventilation.
So far I have given each a pea...
Thank you so much! This is all very helpful and I will continue to treat the mite issue thoroughly. I hadn’t thought about breaking the coop down but you’re right, they are probably hiding in the wooden joinery.
Luckily I was able to make a separate “maternity ward” for my broody hen inside a...
Help! I discovered red mites in my coop where I have a broody hen incubating some eggs to hatch. I noticed them and did a huge clean just before she started sitting on these eggs, sprayed down the coop, roosts, and run with permethrin 10, dunked all the girls in the permethrin 10 (diluted per...
Alright, everyone! The big FINAL reveal!
Here SHE is at 22 weeks, and here is her first batch of eggs! She had a very well-hidden nest, we didn’t know she was laying but we suspected because she kept disappearing for about an hour and then magically reappearing.
Needless to say, she’s a lady...
Well, she’s 16 weeks now— no crow, still the same size as the other pullets. It’ll be a few more weeks before she’s due to start laying but I’m pretty sure at this point that she’s a Pullet! I’ll update after she lays her first egg (or not?! Lol)
I just got married and got to take wedding photos with one of my Naked Neck pullets! I can’t wait to see the ones from the photographer. Anyone else take fancy photos with their chickens?
You’re right and I hadn’t mentioned it before but, another reason for my suspicion has been how similar my EEs looked as chicks— you could barely tell them apart! As they’ve grown they look quite different.
The one I’m sure is a Pullet is bearded, has a slightly smaller comb, and her coloring...
Right? I was *sure* she was a roo for weeks with her behavior, stance and those saddle feathers but lately I’ve been thinking more that she’s a Pullet given her size and small comb plus no crowing*. She/he’s a conundrum!
*She does have a interesting vocalization that sounds a bit screamy but...
Hi there,
I have an Easter egger that I’m pretty sure is a Pullet but at the same time, her stance and tail look very roo-like to me. Plus, she (he?) is is the bully of the flock and can be aggressive.
What makes me think she’s a pullet— her comb is still pretty small in par with my other...
Oddly because the cage I used didn’t have a roof, she broke out of jail sometime in the night, but the littles were okay. So far she hasn’t been allowed to sleep in the coop with them but she’s not going in there to harass them or chase them so far which is what I was after! One of the docile...
As of this morning, complete peace in the coop! I have been wondering if the big bully chicken is the main cause, as the others are fine but then seem to follow her when she starts it. I have her in chicken jail and will test this theory today with the rest of the chickens. I hate to do this to...
Thank you! I have the babies in the coop with 4 of my docile girls for the night. I’ve checked on them a few times and they seem to just be nestled up to sleep. I feel bad for my girls in the run tonight, they are up on the ramp wondering why they can’t get in 😞
