Where was the shipment from? Midwest, or Southern CA. A huge duck hatchery came on line in CA, and the shipping and connections have been a disaster, with shipments just going into circles between CA and Denver. .
Sand hill does a lot of trying to save old breeds. Hense, if one orders mixed American, one gets mixed american, probably from trying to cross to inprove vigor in a dying breed. They do keep their pure stock seperate from the experiments, but don't expect pure breed if you order "mix."

My ducks and Geese use a three-acre pond frequented by migratory birds, and spend nights in barns with my chickens 150 feet away. Roofed runs are not going to help in my case. I'm fate fodder and know it.
