My broody banty hatched out 3 little peeps! There were lots more eggs that didn't hatch. Now I've got another banty who has gone broody. There were way too many eggs under her so I took all of them away and hopefuly we will start fresh today. (We were on vacation and came home to this...
Thanks so much for responding to my question. I'll do that. Bob has made a ramp from the next on down to the ground but it is at quite a slant and she hasn't been bothered by his working on it. I'll put some straw all around so they do ok. Thanks again and will let you know how many she has.

My little banty hen went broody during the ice storm a few weeks ago. I was amazed. Anyway, after the storm I took all the eggs out of there. The other hens were laying in there as well. She wasn't happy about my taking the eggs. My neighbor who got me into chickens wasn't too happy about...
My banty hen is sitting on eggs about 20 inches off the ground of the coop and is due this Thurs. Will the peeps be ok that high up? Should we move the eggs down to the straw? Should I put more straw in so they won't hurt themselves? The food and water is on the ground. Thanks for any...
Thanks, BJ,
Two of my hens' heads are light and just the one roosters. I appreciate the advice. It's really hard to find much about coloring with mille fleurs' so I've been looking at pics and some of mine are darker. I'm not interested in showing them but would like to have the proper...

I have 4 roos and 5 chicks- about 4 1/2 months old. I've advertised in the Peddler to sell 3 of the roos but am not sure which one to keep. I know their true colors come in after the first molt. Not sure when that will be. 3 of the roos have dark heads and one is still mostly yellow on the...
They are currently in a brooder in our little guest house. I turned the air conditioner on fan today because it has turned miserabley hot. The temp in their brooder is running around 85- 88. Their Banty house is ready for them but there is a window on only one side (north) and 2 holes up high...
I hope this ends up where it belongs. I'm not sure if I"m typing in the right place. We were given 3 RIR 2 yrs. ago and they were small, medium, and large. None ever gave me any trouble and I knew nothing about birds then. We still have one (the smallest) but I just threw him out of the coop...
