I live in Central Texas, Near Killeen and finished my tractor about 2 months ago. I have 2 red stars and 1 orpington. Each blesses me with 1 egg a day.
I gave them shade and lots of screening for ventilation. So far.. they seem to be ok but it has not reached the normal temps we get in...
Just finished this one and I live on top of Hill in Central Texas with LOTS of wind.
Last week, 20-30, with gusts to near 50.
It weighs about 300 but i have it staked.
The center window is made of plexi-glass which i painted. So far.. 1 day = 3 eggs. The flock consists of 2 Red Stars - ( Babs, and Ginger),, and one Buff O - (Mrs Tweety)
the siding was purchased at Ace. It is a masonite 3 panel lap siding. Bought in 16 feet lengths. Obviously i didnt need that length,,, so it was cut in manageable 8 foot sections.
The basic construction is 2x4's and the roofing is basic R panel metal.

My coup is 9x4 and has a fair amount of vents for air. Its a tractor and i believe is plenty big enough for the 3 ladies im getting. I can give you sizes if you want more clarification.
I put metal "R" panel on my tractor and it was easy to put on...
See the enclosed pictures.
The top pix is with the flashing on and the bottom one is just the panel being installed
Hope this helps.

A removable floor, a floor clean-out door, a chicken door that raises and lowers (via...
yes... it has axles on the front and the "L" bracket is for jacking it up and putting the wheels on it. It will have a green sheet metal roof.
Now I have to think about getting some girls to occupy this condo.
