Sponsored Post Nestera Coop Giveaway! Total worth $1595

I've drooled over these coops for some time, but have been bummed that they haven't been available in the USA. What to say ....the construction material makes cleaning a snap reduces mite infestation, and seems quite durable. The design is attractive and seems safe from predator intrusion...

    Vaccinating a pullet for Marek's

I am about to buy a 9 month old pullet that hasn't been vaccinated for Marek's and wonder if its safe to have a vet adminiser it, given her age. Any input would be a great help! Oh, and I've had 4 of my older birds die of Marek's in the past year.

    Chickens eating concrete dust.

I plan to keep the birds as far away as possible from the slab when I am working, but you have both given me a great idea: I will borrow my brother's shop-vac and vacuum up the dust as best I can. When the concrete is properly prepped, I am stenciling artwork onto it. Below is a lik to what I...

    Chickens eating concrete dust.

Hello, I am planning to sand a concrete patio, and wonder if hosing the dust into the dirt will be problematic for my birds who like to nibble along its edges. I do know that its not safe for them to inhale airborne dust particles, but am trying to figure out whether I will create a health...

Thanks, I did not know it existed. However, I'm making progress, and have found a fellow who raises seramas in Chico, several hours away. We are in dialogue. Janice

    Serama Hatch-A-Long!!

Do you have a serama hen you might consider selling? Just thought I'd ask, as I have a young serama roo who is in sore need of a mate, as he's decided he's in love with my hubby's hand and that hand has about reached its limit with the loving. We have two other roosters who are happily...

My seramal just died; I have no idea how. She began to lose feathers. As my roo began to favor coupling with her, her feather loss increased. Additionally, she had red areas near her cloaca and belly. Wound sprays, neosporin, and soaks in epsom salts did not help; but she did enjoy the soak...

fencing for run and overhead poultry netting

Hello, This is my first post; I am looking for a single piece of netting to cover a 25 by 35 foot fenced area. I tried deer netting, but despite ties to hold the 10 foot wide strips together, it had gaps, allowing a smallish hawk to dip in and nearly make off with one of my bantam hens...

Sneezing & Head-Shaking Silkie Bantam Chicks

I have two young silkie chicks: one is 6 weeks old the other 10 weeks old. When I received them, one was sneezing, lethargic, and shaking its head. The second one began to do the same, so I put them on Tetracycline. Now, after 10 days on it, one is still sneezing every few minutes, and they both...
