I have some Bob Whites that I can hear in their eggs and they have pips on the shell as well. Just wasn't sure how long it normally took for them to get themselves out of the shell once the first pip had appeared.
I have some true hatching trays on the way, but in the interim I have them in the cardboard trays. I just put a box in the middle of the incubator to provide the incline for the trays...then I just rotate the tray.
