    Pekin laying eggs(multiple questions)

She’s doesn’t lay all day on them. Once it gets dark, she’s on them til 9-10am. She’s got some feathers in the nest but I wouldn’t say a lot. Is there a way to determine which eggs may hatch?

    Pekin laying eggs(multiple questions)

I have a 5 month old Pekin female and a 5 month old mallard drake. He’s been breeding(or at least attempting) her for a little while now. She’s laying eggs daily. There’s probably close to 20 eggs in her nest. She’s laying on them at least 8 hrs a day I know of. So, to my questions. How do I...

What would rip out the throat of a duck?

I’m glad you mentioned owl. We’ve recently heard two owls close by. That was my first thought. But this occurred between 930 am and 1020am. I don’t know. I’m driving myself crazy trying to figure it out.

This is how she was found. From her breast almost to her beak, ripped open.

What would rip out the throat of a duck?

Yesterday morning, I found our duck, Maverick, dead with her throat ripped out. I checked for any paw prints around her and found nothing. Whatever killed her, didn’t try to eat her. She was completely intact except her throat. I’m pretty new to ducks and live in the middle of the city. We have...

Her esophagus was ripped out. No bite marks that I can tell and no tracks around her. She was in the backyard along a fence line that she loved picking through

Maverick made a full recovery and has been doing great. This isn’t gonna be a good post. This morning something ripped her throat out. I found her before flies got to her so I know it was very recent. What could have done this?

I assisted her after a couple hours. She isn’t in pain or discomfort as far as I can tell. I’m not sure if the egg production is taking a lot out of her or not. She’s picked up eating and drinking a bunch. I also went and got the calcium gluconate.

The second and third eggs looked normal on color. I was truly surprised to see her lay eggs as sick as she’s been. I called the vet Saturday when she was having trouble. He knows I’m comfortable doing what I can to help her. He told me I could just help and see if I can get it moving some. And...

@casportpony Yes, she had a difficult time today. I don’t know how long I’m supposed to wait before helping. She didn’t seem I comfortable and she was still able to poop. But she kept trying and wasn’t having any luck. Do I give her the calcium gluconate as a daily regimen? Can it be added to...
