I’m new to the duck scene. Need some advice please.

Yes, she had a difficult time today. I don’t know how long I’m supposed to wait before helping. She didn’t seem I comfortable and she was still able to poop. But she kept trying and wasn’t having any luck. Do I give her the calcium gluconate as a daily regimen? Can it be added to her water or does it need to be given directly to her?
Sorry she is having trouble. When she laid the second egg, was it normal looking? I ask because the first egg picture looks like it was a funny color, which might mean she has something going on in her reproductive tract. Can you email that pictures of the two eggs to your vet and call them? Given all you have been through with her I think you should talk with them about how to proceed.

I now also add turmeric (anti inflammatory) and oregano (anti pathogen) to our ducks’ food daily. The turmeric stains, so watch that...but the vet said you can’t hurt them with it, and it can reduce inflammation that is often associated with egg binding. It also helps with joint problems.

I use about a tablespoon of each per 4 cups of food (I use New Country Organic no corn no soy layer, moistened). I also started adding oregano and turmeric to their water when I give them Mazuri breeder food. It is pellets (actually shaped like M&Ms...)

The second and third eggs looked normal on color. I was truly surprised to see her lay eggs as sick as she’s been. I called the vet Saturday when she was having trouble. He knows I’m comfortable doing what I can to help her. He told me I could just help and see if I can get it moving some. And it did. It popped out fairly easy. I think she is still very weak right now, but she is definitely gaining strength and weight.
