She isn't acting like she's eggbound in any way, I really doubt it's that.
She is actually up and about again. I don't know if it was the supplements we gave her or not but she's not huddled up any more.
I'm just going to let her free range again and see how she does.
Thank you all for your...
The hen is less than two years old. She has not been laying since she got sick, but I'm not sure when her last egg was. Vet care is not an option. I'm just going to have to let her go If I can't figure this out.
It doesn't seem like she has any of the crop issues in the links you posted. Her...
So, Saturday night I noticed that my white austra hen was acting lethargic and just kind of huddled off to the side. The next morning she was no better, so I separated her from the rest of the flock. I couldn't find any outward signs of illness other than her huddled posture, limp comb, and a...
I don't have any photos, but the tissue is hanging out pretty far. Would you recommend giving her calcium tablets to help move the egg along? How many times a day should I apply the honey?
Thank you so much for your feedback!
So my white leghorn hen started laying about a month ago, and yesterday night when I went out to close the door for the night I noticed her insides seemed to be coming out her back-end. We gave her an epsom salt bath, put honey on the tissue, and gently pressed her outsides back in, but they...
We can't take her to a vet...
Does anybody know about the garlic/apple cider vinegar/diatomaceous earth?
Should I just leave her alone since she seems to be improving?
So it does seem like she's been improving, but I was going to maybe try apple cider vinegar, garlic, and maybe diatomaceous earth in case she has worms.
She does have some of the symptoms of having worms :hmm
Would any of these things hurt her worse if she was sick with something else besides...
She seems to be perking up more today. We are letting her free range just to keep her away from the other hens. Yesterday day she spent most of the day standing around like A zombie chicken, but today she's been wandering around and actually eating her food.
More like from her legs to her...
It was thin and fleshy
I did and I didn't feel an egg.
Her belly is bloated and soft, but she's still drinking.
P.s. thank you all for responding!
My 3 year old white leghorn hen stopped laying recently. She doesn't seem interested in her food or treats and just kind of stands around with her head tucked in. I separated her from the rest of the flock and let her free range, but she isn't scratching around at all.
The other night I notice a...
I have two 8 week old chicks who are still sleeping by themselves in a separate coop.
The mini coop that the chicks are sleeping in is attached to the main coop and run so that I just let them out every morning to mingle with the big chickens.
The mama hen stopped sleeping in the nest with the...
Update:
Both eggs hatched today! :celebrate We got them on the first, so I thought they would hatch on the twenty-first...apparently not.
I still haven't seen them (they are still under Stew) but I could feel them moving under her and hear them cheeping. I gave them part chicken\part...
