Yeah it snows here...I'm gonna have to do something about it. Last year it got way down in the negatives (but I didn't have any chickens then.) And I imagine it'll be worse this year.

It looks like we are headed for a chicken-killer winter, and I don't have faith out hen house will keep everyone warm enough. Its just an open face goat shed with 2 chain link dog kennels attached out front with chicken wire wrapping it. Id like to beef it up so everyone can snuggle together and...

She was gorgious! I'm sorry the other day I let out chickens out to roam and 20 minutes later I looked outside to a mass feather explosion...seems our boxer got ahold of one in her kennel and bye-bye birdie...it was pretty depressing.

We have 45 hens and all of them were 4 or 5 months old when we bought them...that was almost 5 months ago...so far we get a steady 2 whole eggs a day! Sometimes 3...my husband is getting very irritated. So either we arnt doing something right or someone lied to us when we bought them. erg.

Right now we have 45 chickens, 8 or 9 differant breeds, and its an amazing looking flock. But once my black tailed japs are old enough to breed they are going to get to be their own flock seperate from the others. I think that will be really pretty.

My chickens loooooove spaghetti, they gooble it up like there's no tomorrow. Also once they ate a copperhead snake :O I'm pretty sure chickens are related to pigs...

My husband got me a dachshund puppy for my birthday and he is great with the chickens. He's a mini dach but maybe a full size would be of more use to you since you're not really looking for a small dog. When we got him he ran at the chickens a few times but never offered to grab at them or chase...

Does anyone know how to make canned candied apples? Seems like I had them when I was little...but I don't remember for sure what exactly it was, but I think that's what they were called.

My favorite kitchen knife is named Louis. Then again...just about anything I come across I name louis. I had a bike named Hecktor. I think I originally got it from my mom, she called all her vans Bessy. And my sisters name everything Steve, or Roulf.
