It would be fine to gather eggs from a hen that is almost a year though right?
Here in WA the hens egg laying is just starting to pick up.
On a different note do any of you guys practice trapnesting? About half of our hens are laying and I don't have the time to sit out there all day and watch...
Alot people just give away the males. (mostly complimentary when buying a female)
When I bought my two females the breeder threw in 7 males she didn't want
I think that $25 a hen is a little exorbitant unless you have good quality birds.
I am planning on selling some for around $15 and will see...
The "mystery" chick looks like it has the color pattern of a auto sexing breed, like a Beilefelder of something similar.(I know that they don't sell Beiles but as an example)
The only reason that I use a lid is to keep the ever plentiful rats from helping themselves to the feed
We actually found some drowned in it one time.

So, what has been going on of interest with relation to your chickens?
In my flock I have a batch of chicks almost ready to hatch, and will be able to start pasturing my adults soon!
Agreed. You can call a hybrid just about anything you want. Although most named ones do have specific parents there is often no way you could tell the end results apart.
