Hi, I was wondering if I could feed my layers some snail shells...Is it rich in calcium? Will I need to feed oyster shells in addition? If I feed them only the snail shells will it meet their calcium requirements for egg laying?? Is there protein in snail shells or just the calcium..pls help
And separating them at day time can sometime be rough and some hens won't sit on the eggs again after repositioning so doing it at night is better and be gentle with the eggs because shaking it or any rough handling during candling or moving them can resault injuries and death
From my experience a mother hen can peck any chick that isn't hers to death... totally normal but what u can do to help next time you would have more broody hens at the same time is to separate them before they hatch and so they won't peck each other's chicks giving them serious injuries or death.
Ok thanks I will buy few books to see if it helps or I will simply sell half of them. I want them to be comfortable because quality is better than quantity. Thanks
Many thanks.. for grits I add few in their feed but I will have them in separate bowls. Thanks, I think that will be best only if they will eat those small stones on purpose knowing they are not food.. have u tried?
Thanks 😊, I want to know if doubling the coop size without the run will work...if not then I will sell half like u said...but the ideas on how to build big house for more birds will be very very helpful to me because am looking forward to hatching more black sex link birds.
