well, i just cleaned out her coop, and noticed her comb looked faded to more pink than normal, so i looked it up, and she's probably molting. says they stop laying, act funny and stop laying when they molt! so, i guess thats all! :) thanks for the help!!
okay, i wasn't sure if they usually took more than two days or so, but i will check her for bugs/diet/movement problems, just in case!
and i'll look up egg-bound symptoms! <3 thanks!!
Nugget has been giving an egg a day for two weeks ( minus 1 day) and all of a sudden, she's stopped. no egg in two whole days, and not today either.. i noticed her walking up and down her ladder a lot earlier, could there be something wrong? she doesn't seem to want to stay in her coop long...
I'm not christian, but I enjoyed this poem greatly, you are an amazing and passionate writer, and have an incredible and beautiful soul! keep writing, and I wish you all the inspiration I can! :)
so, as a male, her comb would be brighter at a young age? that's interesting! thank you! i'll be sure to remember that when i buy an older pullet! (i am NOT raising any more chicks any time soon! no room! )
oh, probably either 2-5 weeks or 3-4 months. my Leghorn is 3 months, and I had no idea how to tell if she was female, I had to ask in another thread. If I want another chicken, I probably need to know how to visually sex them.
I'd like to know what to look for when I buy another chicken, probably another White Leghorn. What are some key features to look for as far as genders?
I agree! Nugget is my first, and she's been wonderful so far, and I can't wait to see how she'll lay eggs! I want more Leghorns in the future, but I'd also like to experience raising other breeds.
thanks so much, everyone! I'm so glad someone could help me tell. if I had a rooster, I'd have to give him away!
can anyone tell me how they knew? I'm curious to know how to distinct between genders :3
thanks to both of you for the welcome! I only have one chicken so far, and a 2 chicken coop, but when I get older, and get a job, I'm gonna have my own flock, I know it. and this site is already so helpful, i can't even put it into words!
I'm new to the site, and to forums in general, and i can't figure out how to make a 'list' on my profile. it says to make one by clicking "make a list", but there's nothing to click. I also need to know what to put in the "my coop" section of my profile. its to put my chicken's name and breed...
