    Hatching/Raising ducklings

Hello all. I am looking for a little guidance. I have a few questions. I have a female Pekin and a female Rouen who are both sitting on clutches of eggs. DUCK #1 The Pekin's eggs started to hatch 2 days ago. So far only 4 of the eggs have hatched (and they are just the cutest-some are mixed...

Drake Keeps Running Hen Away From The Flock

You know, the more I think about it, the hen in question (her name is Noodle) used to sort of be at odds with the drakes. When they were first learning to trust the pond, the drakes would try to get all of the girls to follow them in for a swim, and Noodle was always the one who would try to get...

Drake Keeps Running Hen Away From The Flock

Yes, the victim here is for certain a hen. They have been laying eggs for about 2 months now, and she does not have the curly tail feathers or the raspy drake voice.

Drake Keeps Running Hen Away From The Flock

Hello. I have 2 pekin hens, 2 rouen hens, and 2 khaki campbell drakes. They have a coop, with a covered pen, and we have about a half acre pond that they LOVE to swim in and hang out around when we are home . We frequently see them breeding in that pond. For the last two days, we have seen one...

Topic of the Week - Aggressive Roosters: What is the best way to handle them?

I know next to nothing about chickens, but I know about my chickens. Our roo was a very nice guy until he was about 5 or 6 months old. Then nearly overnight, he turned into a jerk.

Topic of the Week - Aggressive Roosters: What is the best way to handle them?

I have an aggressive Brahma.I just treat him like a wild animal. If he is in the pen, I can get him to go into the coop by allowing him to see me open the coop, he will run in through the chicken door, and I have someone else close it do he can't go back to the pen. When I let the girls out to...

    Sneezing 3 week old chick

Now the more I read, it appears that LS 50 is only supposed to be used in chicks up to 7 days old, but she is probably 21 days old. On Sunday, it will be 21 days since we got them. Is there a different medication that I should use for a 3 week old, or is LS 50 ok?

    Sneezing 3 week old chick

Sooo, it appears that maybe it is some sort of respiratory ailment. I have started to notice a couple of the others sneezing. I called a nearby animal supply store, and they suggested LS50 for the chicks. I am curious about what chicken veterans think about using it?

    Sneezing 3 week old chick

Thank you so much for your quick reply. If the problem is just dust, there is no real treatment, just try to get them outside on warm days? I am in Northeast Ohio, and we have had some pretty cool weather lately, but I will get them out for some fresh air once we have warmer days. I was...

    Sneezing 3 week old chick

I am a brand new chicken person. I have 10 3 week old chicks. This morning, I noticed that one of them seems to be sneezing, and her breathing sounds a little bit like she has cellophane in her chest. She is eating and drinking normally, and there is no discharge from her eyes or nose. She seems...
