I used Buff laced with muffs and a beard, but I have had several other polish colors and all had muffs and a beard. i guess those without are not common in my area even all the silkies aroung here have muffs and a beard, even with the TN the beard and muffs carried over on the first generation...
Thank you so much for shareing this story I am so glad he is OK. What a nightmare and thank god for the grandparents quick rescue. My boy turns 3 tomorrow and he sleeps with me and my wife in our king size bed. It drives my wife crazy but I worry about fires and such and when he stays the night...
No but I did this project with buff laced polish around the same time he did the silkies. everyone said they were ugly and looked like they had flowers on thier shoulders instead of heads and necks. They did not catch on so I sold them and TN does mean Turkey-Neck
Years ago I did this same project with buff laced polish and it was fairly easy. Take the offspring with TN's and cross them back to the polish. Continue for about 5 generations. The TN gene is dominent and will show up in some chicks with each cross. They did not catch on as well as I thought...
Over the years I have placed quite a few orders with them and I have got a pair of Silver leghorns, a gold sebright hen, a black sumatra hen, and a buff orpington hen as suprise chicks just to name a few.

Considering mine are fully feathered out now it is not possible to go back in time to get pics of the yellow chicks. I have more due soon though and will get pics of them if they hatch the same color.
About the only way I know to catch it is since they are nocturnal by nature, visit the coop several times at night and maybe leave eggs to entice the snake, eventually you will run in to it especialy if the eggs are disappearing it will return for more but they dont eat often. Maybe there is...
For years I did aquarium maintenance on saltwater and freshwater tanks. I also did installation and set up. All for hospitals, schools and private offices and doctors homes ect. Anything plastic can be soaked in a 1 part bleach to 3 parts water solution for about 30 mins then rinse it very well...
If her head and neck was wet and the feathers were mated it sounds like your rat snake friend tried to eat a bigger meal then it can swallow and gave up. They eat victims head first and if it was too big that would explain the twisted neck and the feathers being wet and mated.
