    What breed is this?

Hey everyone! Early spring I picked up some chicks that were “mixed breed” and I am curious what people think our chicken dolly could be. Any guesses are appreciated!

    Badly injured Quail

I had a small duck in the cage with them when it happened. However they were all in there together for quite a while before this incident, but I do think the duck was the culprit. I moved the duck outside of the cage with 2 other small ducks I recently hatched and 2 8-week old chicks. Now they...

    Badly injured Quail

Sorry for the late reply everyone! After cleaning out all of the wounds and keeping an eye on them the quail have made a full recovery. The 2 are even laying now! I am thinking that the smaller duck they were housed with might have been the culprit as I have had no issues since. Duck was moved...

    Badly injured Quail

I appreciate the replies everyone! I was in a rush this morning getting to work so I didn't have time to snap pics but I will when I get home today. I appreciate all of the replies! When I picked him up this morning I actually had to pull some of the skin back so the little one could see. They...

    Badly injured Quail

Hey everyone, A few weeks back I purchased 3 Japanese button quail, 2 females and 1 male. I have been housing them in a small enclosed coop by themselves. About a week ago I moved a duckling which is about 5-6 weeks old and 2 chicks around the same age into the same coop. Everything has...

    Integrating chick with other chicks

My first hatch we did a very small batch and 1 chick came out so we ended up buying 3 more from some people that live close to us. When we integrated them we put the new chicks right in and everything was fine. We did watch for a while and checked up on them quite often though. Hopefully it goes...

How do I keep my chickens out of my garden?

Make sure there isn't anything they can hop on to give them a bit more height to jump over. I was having a coffee watching the coop from my house and I noticed one of my hens hop on top of the small coop, back up to the edge and take a running jump to make it over the fence. After all the...

First time incubating eggs, day 24 and the first sign of movement!

Update! So we did end up picking up a few more chicks. Everyone has been outside for around 2-3 weeks. Here's a pic of everyone from when I first put them outside. The tall one in front is the little guy we hatched

Removing an egg that has pipped but died

I would suggest just moving the egg out of the way. opening up the incubator for those few seconds will not effect the other ones. I have always heard different opinions on what to do if the chick is bumping the other eggs but personally I leave them in there and have never had an issue. Good...

    Outdoor pen question

I'm up in Manitoba Canada, Summers can be around +30 to 40 down to -40 50 in the winter (Celsius). I only hatch chicks in the spring and early-mid summer but I wait roughly 3-4 weeks. If I were to hatch closer to fall I would probably wait 5-6 weeks till they are a bit older. Keep the lamp...

    YouTube channels

Does that LazyGameReviews review older PC games or something along those lines? Wouldnt mind checking that out. I used to watch that angry video game nerd there where he used to review the old NES and SNES games, guy was hilarious.

What age to allow chicks to roam the yard?

We let our chicks out just this past weekend, they just turned 6 weeks. We would have put them out a bit earlier but it was freezing here. They have their own little area for now and when they are a bit bigger then will go into the big coop with the rest of the flock.
