    Pullets laying sporadically

Hi all. I previously had golden comets who gave me an egg daily faithfully since they began laying. I replaced my flock this year with 5 red stars and some other later breeds (not laying yet). The red stars all started laying July 4th-8th, however I only get typically 1-2 eggs a day of I'm lucky...

Breed and sex of my pet chickens! Help

They look like my sisters young Cornish x did. I'm fairly new to chickens. However at 6/7 weeks old I would have to say they are a different breed as they I believe would be much bigger.

They look like Cornish x (meat birds) to me.

    Who laid it??

The pullets in question. I did not add the rest of red stars, cuckoo maran or light brahma as I believe they lay darker eggs.

    Who laid it??

That's what I've been telling the hubby. I was thrown off by the buff today though with her singing. She doesn't have much of a comb and it's not all that pink. She seems young to me as well. I've only had red stars/golden comets in the past so differant breeds are all new to me. Definitely...

    Who laid it??

I think I'm going to just watch them to try and see if I catch who's laying as curiosity is getting the best of me.

    Who laid it??

That's what I was thinking as the buff was singing and my barred rock about a week ago her comb turned bright red. I don't have any photos and they are tucked in for the night.

    Who laid it??

Just for giggles. I have 12 girls consisting of 5 red stars, 2 buff orpingtons, 2 speckled Sussex, 1 light brahma, 1 barred rock and 1 cuckoo maran. 2 of my red stars started laying the 4th. Today we caught a buff doing the egg song and a few hours later we found these two eggs. Any ideas who...

    Getting rid of a rooster

Update: we rehomed our jersey boy yesterday and our girls are so much more content now and not running off anymore.

    Getting rid of a rooster

We like having a roo around and it adds a little extra security for them as they do free range during the day.

    Getting rid of a rooster

I always assumed my jersey was the dominant one as he's vocal, mates the girls, etc. However my quiet laid back brahma does intervene sometimes and will run up to the jersey and face off with him and it's always the jersey that walks away first.

Both boys are friendly with us.

    Getting rid of a rooster

That's where my problem is. My jersey is 50/50 with the girls. He will wait outside the coop until the majority if not all are in for the night and half the girls will follow him around during the day. However he won't allow any to eat with him and chases and mates way to often to where they run...

    Getting rid of a rooster

I guess my question now is at what age do boys show who they truly are and what should I watch out for as in them doing more harm than good for our girls??

    Getting rid of a rooster

We are not wanting fertile eggs for hatching. Just want eggs for eating. We got a roo (plus one "girl" was a boy) just for added protection and we enjoy having a roo around. Were I'm torn is I don't want a roo that will stress the hell out of my girls. However I don't want to rehome the jersey...
