We have 6 Sapphire gems, about 6 weeks old. Supposedly they are all pullets, sex linked like the black sex link, but blue. I'm guessing at least one is a cockerel, although none had a spot on the head as hatchlings.
These are 6 week old Sapphire Gems, supposedly sex linked pullets. None had a spot on the head or barring when we got them. We have 6 but I only have recent close ups of these few right now.
#1 I'm guessing pullet in the back, cockerel in front?
#2 pullet?
#3

I see this post was several months ago. How are they doing? A feed store sold 4 straight run Cornish cross to my husband from a bin labeled Buff Orpington pullets. They are so sweet (about 5 to 6 weeks old now). I know that they are heavy breasted and dont tend to live long but we adore them and...
All 6 of mine have a dark wash at least on the legs and most on the feet as well. They all have at least a bit of dark wash on their beaks. At 4 weeks, I'm still pretty sure at least 2 are roos. I can't believe a sex linked breed is this confusing.
None of mine had spots or bars, still dont at about 4 weeks. That being said, 2 or 3 have larger combs, the start of wattle, and they spar A LOT. I'm not going to be happy if half of them are cockerels from a bin of sex linked pullets. Pics are when we first got them.
Then again, this year...
