So horrible about the people on that duck boat. They were predicting that area to be hit on the 5:00 news here in KC. From what I saw on the news they are also very lacking in basic nautical safety that they are exempt from for some reason. First time on here in a bit. My laptop quit and...

HI, haven't been here for awhile. Not much computer time lately. Should be mowing and will be in a few. Hope no issues with your flock with the heat and fireworks. Mine haven't seemed to mind either, myself and the pups aren't doing as well as the chickens. They pups are terrified of the...

Hey JT I think they figure things out pretty quickly. Nosy little critters they seem to be. Hoping the air quality is better here in the city today so I can work outside. The air seems to affect me more each year. They will probably be sticking their beaks into where I'm weeding. "helping"

They discovered them when I was turning over my raised beds with their "help". Oh my goodness now if one of them finds one they squabble over it. It's so funny.

AWW, hope he went to a good home. Chickens are livestock so you rarely know. We had a pretty strong storm roll through before dawn yesterday with the cool front. No damage here but I guess some around the metro, was outside most of the day so didn't watch the news. The chickens were outside...

No storms here on Thurs. night but we did get one this am. The sirens went off briefly I think due to the high winds and I think the main part went north of the MO River. I'm just south of it. Not sure how much rain yet.

Whew a hot humid one. 95 degrees and 80=100% humidity and rain showers coming from the east. Rare happening. The chickens seem to be doing OK through it. I have been keeping 2 waterers full for 3 chickens so they don't run out while I'm @ work.

@rjohn yes the moisture and also air pockets etc will cause them to explode as will other chemicals used in the manufacturing as will dyes and paint that may be in the mix. Just be careful. I think I posted this last year as well.

Don't see much of mine either as most are teens and are too busy to come stay with gramma. Course summer jobs and those girlfriends and boyfriends rather come first :) Even the 19yo that sort of stays here I see maybe once a week as she is working 2 jobs and spends more time at her boyfriend's...

Be careful with a rocket stove made with bricks. You need fire bricks not just regular building bricks as they can explode. MMMM experience as the ex DH of course wouldn't listen and built a fire pit.....luckily no one was hurt.

JT I have found it's easy to not waste extra eggs. My neighbors and family are always willing to take some ;) With 3 hens they do lay more than I can eat. My granddaughter who is sort of staying with me doesn't like eggs.

Love your comments about protecting stupid people. I used to love my 1920's vintage gas stove, except that it didn't have a self cleaning oven. I have to shut the power off sometime soon to do some electrical work, too dang hot at the moment to shut the AC off. . Will try to remember to try...

Happy that I was off work today. Those storms early this am at least 4 hours worth and at least 4 inches if not more soaked the inside of the coop. I haven't opened the west facing window so it came through the upper vents with an overhang from the south. Soggy bedding scooped out and the...
