@arubio92 Sorry for the late reply! So since this latest incidence of lash, she went through a molt, then looked like she was ready to lay again. From what I could tell, she only laid maybe one or two soft shell eggs (the girls ate them, I suspect, I just think they were soft shell because...
@Blessedwithhens She is doing well! I finished the course of amoxicillin, then gave her 3 days dose of enrofloxacin when it came in. A few days after passing the lash material she went through a heavy-ish molt. Now, just a day ago, she began doing her "egg squat" so I now she'll start laying...
She is just fine, I really think it was all the smoke from the fireworks the night prior. This post was from New Years Day, and by the following day the bubbles had cleared. In our area people go way too crazy with these fireworks and I hate seeing what it does to all the animals 😔
Thank you for the detailed response! Yes, I do have a 1 ml oral syringe so that will work perfect. The liquid seems like it'll be the easiest to work with, I'll keep my fingers crossed that it will help. I have noticed that she is a lot perkier today and is having much better looking poop so...
Thank you for the information, I'm going to try to stay positive and do the best I can for her. For the Enro, would the liquid, pills, or powder be best? And should I continue the amoxicillin in the meantime since I already started it yesterday? Also I was wondering about the dose for the...
I suspect this is lash egg material, though I've never dealt with it before. My hen Eggo is a brahma bantam, almost 3 years old. Has laid probably around 10-15 soft shelled eggs sporadically throughout her laying life. By now I can read her behavior when she is about to lay a soft shell. She...
OK I definitely suspect she has a blockage somewhere. She stayed still and puffed up with her back arched for a couple hours before bed last night. She had several pure white liquid urate poops under her. This morning she started out a little more lively but now is back to a very slow waddle and...
Thank you for your reply. The calcium tablets I've been giving her are in fact carbonate with d3; so I will try to get some calcium citrate. As far as heat, we're in s. Texas so heat has been over 100 daily for almost 2 months now. I suspect she may have some kind of reproductive issue since the...
I have kind of a confusing situation with my hen. Almost 3 year old brahma bantam. She's had egg issues before; occasional soft shell eggs, and one incident almost a year ago where a soft egg broke inside her and I had to manually help her get most of the contents out. She went 5 days before...
I looked at your thread; I'm sorry the vet couldn't give you a better prognosis. In my experience, more poops is always a good thing. It means either she's taking in more food/water, or she's passing stuff that's been stuck inside her. I think the only reason she wouldn't survive more then 48...
It was about 5 days. The first day she passed (with some help) most of the yolk and white and just a little sliver of soft shell. She must have retained the rest of the shell for about 4 more days; then on the 5th day she started clucking like crazy and the rest of the soft shell came out in one...
