    Despite this ones colours when it was a chick, it's now a fully grown laying hen that looks an awful lot like an rir to me. Maybe there is some cross in there for the colour variation as a chick but it doesn't show now. Just thought I'd let you all know how it turned out.

    I have not had her on any antibiotics. I live in the uk and cannot simply purchase some without an expensive trip to the vet.     I have a hen that has been coughing/sneezing and passing bloody poo for about 5 weeks now. I have kept her seperate and hoped that she would either recover on her own accord or die. But 5 weeks on and she is still going. I am reluctant to put her back with the others in case it is infectious...

    I've never fed her any medicated feed. She is still eating and drinking and runs away from me fine, but she is very croaky and now has bloody poo. Will look into getting some Corid. Thanks for the help

    Right, this hen is now passing blood in her poop. One locked as though it was a massive worm, as long as my hand and deep red in colour. I did worm her yesterday in case she had worms and she has also laid an egg. Still being kept separate though. I know blood in the poo suggests coccidiosis but...

    I can't help on breed but I would say the first one (the white one) is a cockerel, and the other two are pullets. Hope some more experienced members will correct me if I'm wrong and tell you the breeds

    Well we have just managed to get rid of a red mite infestation and so a lot of DE has been used in the coop. Could it be this in the air? We use straw as bedding and a window is left open on the hutch in the summer so wouldn't most dust escape through that? After I put the DE round I leave the...

    She was vaccinated as a chick at a few weeks old. She is now coming up to 2 years old. Her breathing is not so loud now. Every breath literally sounded like a little trumpet, now it just sounds slightly croaky and she coughs every now and then. Any ideas?
