Problems with plastic 5 gal water bucket

Had the same problem with mine. I put the lid on just to the point where it starts to get tight. Then I take the little black spout cap off so water starts to fill the bowl. Then I tighten the lid until the water filling the bowl starts to "glug, glug, glug" then I know I have a good seal.

    water nipples leaking

I installed water nipples on the bottoms of buckets but the nipples themselves drip. It's a very slow drip but with three nipples in each bucket they quickly make a mess in the coop. Anybody else have this problem?

Help! Need advice on coop roof---Edit: Coop is almost finished--Chickens are installed! Now Chick

On your roof you do not want to OSB to be tight or seal the joints. The material will expand and contract so you actually want a little space at the joints. There are little metal clips you can use to space them or just put a nail or penny between them. Good luck. Looks like a really nice coop

Are chickens easy to butcher yourself?

Very easy to do. In fact I "take care of" a lot of old hens and roosters around here that owners dont want to deal with. Pressure cooker all the way with the older birds though. Just dive into it its not that hard.

    Hypothetical Question

You can but they continue to grow. My neighbor had to call me to dispatch 2 that he let grow to 4 months old. They were the size of turkeys!!

    The Great Capon Experiment

Quote: Noble indeed but I know my local food bank can't accept homegrown chickens, eggs, or even fresh produce from my garden. The red tape is ridiculous. You also need to keep in mind that these capons will not gain weight like a cx. A cx can be processed around 8 weeks while a capon will...

Can anyone help me figure out what happened.

There would be a lot bigger mess if it was coons. Foxes will haul them off clean. I had a pair of foxes make off with 22 of mine in 1 night. They had to pull 2 cinder blocks out of the way to get to my chickens. I know it was foxes cause I woke up to feed the baby and looked out the window and...

    Duel Roos

First you have to ask yourself- do I need 2 roosters? If you don't need 2 then I would get rid of one because all the other one is doing is eating your feed and is good for nothing else. They will determine the dominant role. After that I would eat the other one. If you are keeping a rooster...

    What's your least favorite breed?

Quote: Well the Cornish X are that way entirely because of the self-centered humans who bred them for human use, and created their health problems without any regard for the birds' well being. Humans turned birds into freaks who are destined to lives of suffering and discomfort. I'd say the...
