Well she done did it :-) I went out to fuss with my handicap girl and didn't see Jesse. I carefully peeked into the nest box hoping she wouldn't see me and she was there and I went back later and there was her eggy. Proud of her nice solid egg
All the years I've had chickens I still love and adore hearing these stories. I think they're just one of the funniest creatures on earth. This is been a weird round of having just these two which is a strange story in itself but yep, I've got the egg in there I have another one I can't remember...
Great information there! It really cracks me up that I've had chickens most of my last 30 years just a short interval that I didn't and here I am with this young lady and was feeling completely unknowledgeable so this certainly gave me some insight. And like I said I've never had a new young...
I do have a fake egg where my girls used to lay eggs but, I just didn't know if the new girl wouldn't even know what that was if she hadn't left one herself LOL but it's there and I will keep an eye out for another :-) a real one:-)

Oh boy! Bears!! Yep I am sure if I was in a different area I would have dogs that would be my helpers, but as it is, my dogs are in at night so no alerting by them. Well that's not totally true because if there's any noise out back they do alert but they wouldn't be much help. I'm glad your dogs...

lol YES! good idea!! I do know there is a motion detector one that sprays water, and one that barks but that one is said that it is tooooo loud and disturbed neighbors. I do have chilli pepper spread all around and alternate with cinnamon and also a peppermint spray. I kind of crack myself...
