Frequent broody hen is going into the stew pot if someone won't come and get her (N. Texas).

I wish we were closer--- I'm all the way in East Texas. Are you a member of CoT on Facebook? Someone on there would take her, I'm sure!

TSC is giving me a headache!

My husband and I have stopped buying from TSC for this very reason. Two years ago, we bought "black sex links" and got a Blue Andalusian (who we loved, but still - totally wrong). The next year, we got the featured breed - mottled javas -- and over half of them ended up being Anconas. That's on...

    Four Little Chickens

I feel like pic #2 could be a barred rock cockerel? His feathering is different from #3, which looks like a BSL boy.

New chicks guesses on the 4 I'm not sure about?

Agreed. I thought the same thing about #3.

    What breed are these chickens?

Wyandotte7 is right one with the breeds. That production red should lay light brown eggs.

    Hen or roo???

I would say pullet if I had to choose, based on stance and that very first picture.

    Please help, boy or girls?

You're right about the bearded/non-bearded, which has nothing to do with hen vs. roo. Just looking at these pics, it looks like the one on the left MIGHT be a roo -- but it's much easier to go off of temperament and the way they carry themselves. Roos will walk standing more upright than hens...

    Help-What could this be?

We have talked about it often but I don't think my husband ever got around to worming them. Can we give both Corid and dewormer to everyone just in case?

    Help-What could this be?

We have a flock of 16 hens and 2 roosters who are all either 1 or 2 years old, never had any illnesses. Last week, we found one hen in our barns tack room (their coop), just standing still with her eyes closed. We took her inside, gave her medicated feed, electrolytes and probiotic. She made it...

Crested Polish, Roo or Pullet? What do you think?

I would say white created is a roo and red is a pullet, but it's hard to tell.

    What are my "assorted bantams"?

Yay!! We were hoping for silkies. :) Those DO have five toes. The #2 type have four.

    What are my "assorted bantams"?

DH surprised me with some TSC assorted bantams on Thursday. We have five like Chick #1, three like Chick #2 and then an all-black one(not pictured) that looks just like Chick #1. It's hard to see, but all of them have feathered feet. Chick #2 birds are smaller than the Chick #1 birds, and a...

Help with our barnyard crosses? *pics added*

Just based on temperament (and maybe comb size), we definitely feel like the two black ones are roosters -- and Spot seems very much like a pullet. Blondie (the all white bird) is much more ambiguous... I was hoping someone here would know for sure! haha! I'm impatient and it's so hard to wait...

Help with our barnyard crosses? *pics added*

Darn... I added pics and they're not showing up! The chicks were born Nov 10, so they're about 3 months old. Will add pics ASAP!

Help with our barnyard crosses? *pics added*

We let a broody hen hatch some babies and now we are wondering who their parents are from our small flock. They all hatched from brown eggs so hen choices are: red sex-link, black sex-link and one mottled java/Ancona mix. We have two roosters - a red sex-link and an Ancona, both of which are...
